Senior enterprise and climate risk governance advisory for high-scrutiny mandates

Facultas-Risk helps financial institutions and institutional investors strengthen enterprise risk management and governance across financial and non-financial risks. We bring senior judgment and independent challenge to complex risk work that must stand up to management, board, audit, and regulatory scrutiny.

When clients bring us in

  • A complex risk mandate requires senior execution across risk, modelling and business stakeholders.
  • Enterprise risk management, risk appetite or governance frameworks need to be strengthened or better integrated.
  • Climate risk needs to be integrated more effectively into ERM, risk appetite, controls or internal reporting.
  • Climate scenario analysis or third-party analytics require senior interpretation and independent challenge.
  • Management, the board, internal audit or other oversight functions need clearer evidence of how important risk decisions were reached.

Climate Risk Governance & Scenario Analysis

Climate analytics create value only when decision-makers can understand, challenge, and apply them.
Facultas-Risk helps organizations connect climate analysis to risk governance and business decisions. We review assumptions and limitations, strengthen scenario-analysis governance, and translate technical outputs into enterprise risk management, risk appetite, controls, and executive or board reporting.

Typical areas of support

  • Climate scenario-analysis governance and oversight
  • Assessment of physical and transition risks
  • Interpretation of physical- and transition-risk outputs
  • Independent challenge of third-party analytics, assumptions and limitations
  • Integration of climate risk into ERM and risk appetite
  • Risk monitoring, controls and internal reporting
  • Governance documentation and decision materials for management and the board

Where specialist modelling, data, or engineering analysis is required, Facultas-Risk works alongside internal teams and specialist providers. Our role is not to replace technical specialists, but to help ensure their work is understood, challenged, and translated into effective governance and decision-making.

Independent Review & Challenge

Some risk work benefits from a senior perspective that is independent of the team, technology provider, or consulting firm that produced the underlying analysis. Facultas-Risk can review and challenge key assumptions, methodologies, controls, limitations, documentation, and management conclusions. This is particularly valuable when climate analytics or other technical work has been produced internally or by a third-party provider and senior decision-makers need confidence that the implications are properly understood.

The objective is not to reproduce the underlying analysis. It is to clarify what the analysis says, what it does not say, where important limitations remain, and how the findings should inform governance and risk decisions.

Why Facultas-Risk

Facultas-Risk is a boutique advisory firm. Engagements are structured around a specific risk decision, governance requirement or work product rather than around deploying the largest possible team. Depending on the mandate, engagements take the form of an independent review of existing work, a defined advisory workstream, senior execution support on a live initiative, or periodic recurring challenge at key governance or reporting points.

The firm is led by Hind Abdo, MBA, CFA, who has more than 17 years of experience in banking, financial markets and risk management, including credit and investment analysis, institutional investment risk, and enterprise and non-financial risk within the Canadian financial-services sector. She holds the CFA charter and additional credentials in risk management, climate risk and sustainability.
